About the Internship Program
The National Institute of Immunology provides opportunities for outstanding students to carry out project work under the supervision of the Institute’s scientists towards partial fulfilment of their degrees (of at least SIX months’ duration; session I: July–December; session II: January–June).
The minimal eligibility criterion for consideration of the requests is first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% of aggregate scores) in all major examinations starting from the secondary school examination onwards. The following procedure should be followed by interested students:
- Only students who are currently pursuing a Master's degree (e.g. MSc, MVSc, MTech, integrated masters students in their last year etc.) may apply for the six-month project training. Those who have already completed their Master’s degree are not eligible.
- Students currently perusing final year of their four-year (8-semester) graduation degree (BE/B.Tech) may also apply.
- The requests must be forwarded through the Heads of Departments and must provide the academic resumes of the recommended student(s), clearly specifying percentage marks obtained at various levels and the subjects covered, as well as the period of proposed project work.
- Every department can forward a maximum of two requests.
Applicants must mention their broad area of interest from the following subjects:
- a) Immunity and Infection
- b) Genetics, Cell Signalling and Cancer Biology
- c) Chemical Biology, Biochemistry and Structural Biology
- d) Computational Biology, Bioinformatics and AI/ML applications in biology
